Oculus seems to be taking their VR game seriously as they stepped up with their A game, when launching series of products to push further in the VR. Facebook been looking to control all VR experience with onboard computation, which could spell no need for smartphones or PC.

At fourth annual conference, Facebook announce several new hardwares and plans in the future that will change the way Virtual reality is being approached by consumers, let’s take a look at what Facebook launched;

Oculus Go:

The CEO Mark Zuckerberg himself launched a mobile headset and called it Oculus Go.The headset is a standalone device which will work with Gear VR titles, will make the company stop to rely on smartphone makers like Samsung and HTC.


Said to be “the most accessible VR headset yet” Zuckerberg said, Oculus Go costs $199 while it comes with a WQHD LCD screen and Spatial audio, but won’t go on sales till early 2018.

 

Rift Bundle:

Zuckerberg set a permanent price cut on the Rift and Touch combo, peaking both at $399 in the US. The Rift bundle comes with six free apps, Touch controllers and sensors. The price was cut to put Rift in a good position to battle off competitions.

 

Oculus for Business:

At the event goes ahead to launched Oculus for Business, which is the professional versoin of the Rift bundle but set for businesses. The Oculus for Business comes with the Rift, Oculus Touch controllers, three sensor and three facial interfaces, while the customers will be getting dedicated customer support and extended licenses. Oculus aligned partnership with companies like Audi, DHL and Cisco to push VR into the business market.

 

Oculus dash:

Another tech innovative launched was the Dash which is probably the coolest things launched at the event, the Dash was shown to be Rift’s new interface that has been built to replace your computer screen. The Dash can be operated on air – how crazy is that? Check out the introduction.

 

Facebook 3D Posts:

At the event, Facebook announced a 3D posts features coming down to your News Feed. The 3D post allow you play with objects or images with your fingers as you can touch, rotate and zoom the objects in the News Feed.

 

Project Santa Cruz:

Facebook-owned Oculus made an upgrade to last year Project Santa Cruz, which is a standalone VR headset.The upgrade is the prototype and is slimmer and comes with a fully tracked controllers to enable hand gestures, the price is yet to be known but will be coming up for sales in early 2018.
